| A 64 bit version of Solidworks Ed will be released this summer. |
Here’s the skinny on how to purchase the student edition for you and your fellow classmates.
It is a fabulous learning tool and its’ only limitation is that it cannot be used commercially so, you won’t be able to import or export anything …what’s in there, stays in there. You can print …however, what you print will be water-marked.
Here’s what to do:
Just go to our website at www.solidworks.com and follow these simple instructions:
Go up to the ‘search bar’ at the top of the home page
- type in “SolidWorks student edition” …that will take you to the correct page
- click on SolidWorks Student Edition Software …read through all the information
- click on “how to buy” in the upper right corner
It will walk you right through the purchase and the cost is under $150 (actually there are 2 versions… one for about $90 (I believe this is the one you want), which is CAD only and it actually has many more features than the “Standard” Commercial Suite, which is priced at $3,995. The other version is about $140 …and has all the ‘simulation’ modules for FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
All you’ll need is a student (or faculty) ID and a credit card.
NOTE: Read through product specs and system requirements for installation. Make sure to load onto a 32 bit system…. (not a 64 bit) …with either Windows XP or Vista (Windows XP is better, though)
You might want to add a couple of other resources to your listing…
in case anyone runs into a problem and needs some assistance from other
people who have purchased and are using the student edition software ….

| www.Studica.com I just ordered SolidWorks Ed and worked out the kinks using my VCAS card (Attendance initially required in a College or Certificate Program.) SolidWorks provides a list of other vendors... make it easy on yourself and use Studica. |
User
Interface. With the heads-up user interface, you get a
complete, customizable set of visual display and mouse-driven control
capabilities. This reduces design steps, minimizes dialog boxes, and
decreases visual clutter.
SWIFT™
(SolidWorks Intelligent Feature Technology). SWIFT let
you spend time creating products that work well, instead of trying to
make your software work for you. It automates time-consuming detail work
and techniques, diagnosing and resolving problems related to feature
order, mates, sketch relationships, and the application of dimensions.
2D
Drawing Creation. Use the familiar interface of DWGeditor to
draw in 2D, as well as edit and maintain your existing DWG data files.
Part
Modeling. With Instant3D, you have the fastest, easiest way to
create and modify 3D part geometry. By simply clicking and dragging, you
can precisely create and resize features–even
section entities. As you ready your design for production, use DimXpert
to create accurate 2D drawings (or “drawingless” data) to ensure your
parts will fit when manufactured
